It is located on the edge of the village of Knutstad. The church is part of the Borge parish in the Lofoten deanery in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The chapel was built in 1915 and used as a ''bedehus'' (chapel) until 1944 when it was upgraded to an official "chapel". It was consecrated as a chapel on 30 January 1944.
